KINTEX (Ilsan) — Seating, Sightlines, Getting There, Parking & What to Bring

KINTEX is Korea’s largest exhibition and convention center, in Ilsan, Goyang (Gyeonggi). When it hosts an international tour or a big festival, it transforms into an indoor arena for tens of thousands. It splits into Exhibition Center 1 (Halls 1–5) and Exhibition Center 2 (Halls 6–10), with big concerts usually in Center 2 (Halls 9–10), where 10,000-plus seats can be set. The structure changes completely with each stage, so check your show’s hall and seat map first.

Getting there

• Daehwa Station (Line 3), Exit 2 — about a 7-minute walk. Local shuttle buses (039 / 058 / 082 / 089) also pass in front of Exhibition Center 2.
• Roads get congested after shows, so allow extra time back to Daehwa Station.

Seating and sightlines

KINTEX is built on an exhibition floor, so the ground is flat. Unlike an outdoor stadium there’s almost no stage rake, so sightlines are harder to secure than at open-air venues.

• Ground standing: close to the stage, but with no rake the back rows see the person in front. To get a good spot, arrive early and aim for the fence.
• Reserved (chaired): the gentle slope is good for the whole stage but distance grows fast toward the back — from the rear you’ll lean on the big screen for detail, so binoculars help.
• Stable zones: the center-front (center A / mid B) is the safe bet for both view and sound. Big screens at the back still make the overall staging easy to follow.
• Sides: they look close but the angle can hide one side of the stage — confirm front vs. side before booking.
• Standing-number quirk: because it doubles as an expo hall, the numbering is unusual (e.g. “1001” is effectively number 1). Entry is by number, so lower is better — but zone matters more than number; near the fence of a thrust stage can be great even with a high number.

Parking

• About 4,200 spaces across both centers, but it fills fast on show days — arrive an hour early.
• Rates run around 600 won / 10 min, up to ~6,000 won/day (some events price a separate day pass). Discounts apply for disabled / national-merit / compact / low-emission vehicles; kiosks and app payment are available.
• Exiting backs up 10–20 minutes, so wait a bit rather than leaving right at the end.
• Note: parking fees, discounts and operations can change — confirm as of your visit.

Tips (packing for an indoor show)

Indoors, you’re cold while waiting (AC) and hot once it starts (crowds) — temperature swing is the theme.

• A thin layer (windbreaker / cardigan) you can stuff in a bag.
• A capped drink — the indoor air is dry and you’ll get thirsty fast.
• Cushioned sneakers — the floor is hard concrete and your feet will feel it.
• A power bank — data is weak deep inside, so batteries drain quickly.
• A folding seat cushion — floor tickets often mean sitting on the ground or plastic chairs.
• Lockers (Center 2, near Halls 6 & 10 on floor 1 and the central lobby on floor 2) fill early, so travel light. Use the restroom before the show starts.
